The Atlanta All Stars Talent Show Network: "Have You Ever Seen a Dream Rappin'?"

“Have You Ever Seen a Dream Rappin’?” was performed at the Eyedrum Music and Art Galleria, the evening of Friday February 2, 2007 at 7:30pm. This production is based on original spoken word, original song, rap and dance pieces, and personal letters to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. asking the collective question, “Are you still dreaming about a better world?”
Directed by Murray Dabby, the production was created together with youth and volunteers from our all-volunteer program.

The performance involved young people 10 years old and up from communities around Atlanta, creating  spoken word pieces, original song, rap and dance performance pieces in the form of personal letters to Dr. King.

For many young people, the relationship to Dr. King has been distant or non-existent. We hope to explore our various relationships to Dr. King as monument and Dr. King as human being. All Stars youth and volunteers participated in creating this production through a series of conversations and rehearsals to get to know Dr. King more personally, through exploring what his contribution to the world means in each of our personal lives and asking the question "Are You Still Dreaming?" about a better world.
